As soon as possible after your accident or incident!
Call your insurer and let them know you are making a claim and you have chosen Main Autocentre as your repairer.
Remember – Main Autocentre offers a LIFETIME WARRANTY on repairs and in most cases can book you in with a loan vehicle as soon as is convenient for you. This may in some cases depend on spare parts availability.
VERY IMPORTANT – CLAIM NUMBER – Main Autocentre needs the INSURANCE CLAIM NUMBER and your INSURANCE COMPANY NAME, if dealing with a broker ask the broker for the INSURERS NAME and CLAIM NUMBER please.
We can take images of damage but nothing else can happen towards getting your car fixed, unless Main Autocentre has the INSURER NAME & CLAIM NUMBER and please ensure you have informed your insurance company that Main Autocentre is your chosen repairer.
Once your insurer has acknowledged Main Autocentre as the repairer we can complete your estimate process & book you in. In some cases, we will only need your insurer name and claim number to proceed. This will depend on whom your insurance company is.
Estimate Process
Basically we need to see the damage on your vehicle to draw some conclusions and provide you with the best advice possible.
The fastest and best way to convey your damage to us is by providing photos to us, or phoning in to book an assessment (Estimate) so we can view the damage in person. The "Get an Estimate" button at the top right hand corner of this page will take you to a page where you can load photos or obtain our contact details for booking estimate appointments.
COSTS - If you have lodged a claim with your insurer and selected Main Autocentre as your repairer there is no cost to you. If you have no insurance or are undecided on whether to claim or not, their may be a charge depending on the severity of the damage (time taken to write estimate). However this cost will be refunded should you have your vehicle repaired with us.
TIME FRAME FOR ESTIMATE - Small repair estimates can take between "while you wait" to 48 hours. Medium size repairs can take 24 - 36 hours, whilst larger structural repairs that may require more extensive removal of parts and parts price and availability enquires, plus repair procedure analysis may take up to 5 business days to process.
The estimate is then provided to your insurer for authority to be given. Once authority from your insurer is received we can book you in and commence repairs.
Some insurers we can self authorize, saving you time.
Spare parts for your vehicle if required
We are obligated by your insurer to use a web-based parts procurement system. We need the insurers claim number for this. This parts “price & availability” process will take between 6 – 24 hours depending on your type of car. More exotic vehicles may take longer.
We are then obligated by your insurer to choose the most suitable quote provided by this parts procurement system.
Spare parts delivery times can range from half a day to 3 months for more exotic vehicles, but usually range between 1 to 5 days.
Completing Estimate Process & Lodging or submitting to your insurer
Once the following tasks have been completed, we can book you in if the claim is able to be self-authorised by Main Autocentre, or we can submit the estimate to your insurer seeking authorisation to proceed with repairs:
1. Claim number & insurance company details provided to Main Autocentre.
2. Images taken of vehicle damage and if required viewed in person by Main Autocentre estimator.
3. Parts prices and delivery times obtained by Main Autocentre.
4. Estimate written, uploaded, and submitted to your insurer.
5. Repairs self-authorised by Main Autocentre can be booked in to start repairs if repair costs are under $7,000.00 and are insured by one of Tower Insurance, Trade Me Insurance or IAGs Insurance company brands.
6. If the estimate is not able to be self-authorised it will need to be submitted to your insurer seeking authorisation. Waiting for insurer authorisation can take between 1 – 7 days. We will notify you once we have submitted the estimate to your insurer. You can speed things up by ensuring your insurer has everything they need from you and by calling your insurer.
7. In most cases we can make a tentative booking with you upon completion and submission of your estimate to your insurer. However, we cannot order parts until your insurer has authorised our estimate. So, it is very important for you to follow up with your insurer if you have been informed by Main Autocentre that your estimate has been submitted to your insurer for authorisation.
